Meet Haley Johnston

Just The Way You Are Photography

Chances are if you have seen me out in public there is a camera or two with me. No one could have told me that in my early 20's I would have my own small business and it would be continuing to thrive more and more every day. I thought I wouldn't find a career until I finished college. I am a college student, aspiring to be a optometrist; who has ironically capitalized on the eye for photography. Being a photographer and pre-med student surprises many but it's combination of what I truly love: art and science.
Other things I love: anything blueberry, Grey's Anatomy, chocolate (especially with caramel), golden retrievers, fitness, spending time with my family/friends, sappy movies, the beach, Bethenny Frankel from Bravo, and shooting Pentax.

Many of you will recognize me from athletic events, student functions, and performances at the University of Maine. I am currently the Photo Editor at the Maine Campus, an award winning student newspaper, where I have had the opportunity to be front and center at music concerts, meeting successful alumni, and being right in the middle of all the action of state elections and protests.

New to sports photography and being a past fan in the stands, I can honestly say there is nothing like the thrill of capturing students filling the steins and cheering on our Maine Black Bears. I have been known to miss "the perfect shot" at sporting events because I get captured in the action... resulted in my hand not being on the camera but "fist pumping" it when there's a good play.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought photography would allow me to capture timeless
moments of other people's lives and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I hope to hear from you soon,

                                                               Haley
