Portraits: Christina

Christina's session lasted for many hours and resulted in one of my most fun portraits session yet. It was a great session to help kick off the new year. Christina's session is called, "A Day in the Life of Christina Moore," that is exactly what it turned into. As a native of Portland her heart definitely belongs to this city. She attends college in the Midwest and every time she comes home she spends time in her favorite places. Most of these places are in one of the most unique and special places in the state of Maine, the Old Port in Portland. Christina's favorite spot in the whole world is the Portland Pier, even when it has just snowed (like in this session) and so cold you can't feel your fingers through your mittens. Christina is full of life and brings out the best in all of her friends. I have had the privilege of knowing Christina for roughly four years and my life has truly been blessed since she has been in it! I was thrilled when she was up for a photo shoot and contacted me while I was in Old Orchard visiting family. To start the session we first got breakfast at Hot Suppa, which is an adorable little cafe on Congress Street, it is definitely a place to check out if you are in the area. When we finally reached the pier, all we both could do was laugh. I have never photographed Christina before and so giggles were all you could hear. I think the fishermen a few feet away probably got a great laugh along with us. Ri-Ra was the next stop and is Christina's favorite Irish Pub, or place to eat and hang out in general. Fun fact about Ri-Ra, the bar was directly sent here from Ireland. The pub was gorgeous and the bartender loved the fact we were doing a session in there and Christina even got to go behind the bar, which apparently is never allowed. Another great spot we hit was the Citadel Radio Station where her Dad works. We got to spend a little time with him and go on the roof top for some fabulous photos of Christina looking over her city. While we were there Christina did her own radio thing and again laughter was basically the only thing that everyone got to hear and see from the outside. I feel so lucky to have Christina as a client and in my portfolio because she is the most gorgeous red haired girl I have ever met and has a contagious smile, even through photos.

Oh, I forgot to mention we also stumbled upon a beyond beautiful graffiti wall, that we later found out changes every day! How cool is that!?

Portraits: Lindsay

Once I finally found Lindsay's house in Old Orchard, I quickly told her that we would be hitting the beach for her pictures. Her response, "No". Lindsay literally lives across the street for the beach and she doesn't appreciate it at all! ;) I finally convinced her that the beach was the perfect place to go and I don't think she regrets it now! The wind may have been cold but it was well worth it. The beach wasn't crowed (of course it wouldn't be in January), let alone walking on the beach without snow in January. Being a Northern Maine-er walking on the beach in the winter just isn't imaginable for me! The afternoon was amazing, one because Lindsay is gorgeous and easy to photograph and two I WAS ON THE BEACH! Yes, the beach is one of my favorite places so it was a win-win!

Allison and Mike

Meet Allison and Mike... a complete match if you ask me. We headed out for a sunset session at Allison's parent's house. As the two of them laughed and joked at each other, all I could do was laugh as I snapped away at their hilarious actions and facial expressions.  We lucked out with the weather that evening as for some reason the temperature was warm for this time of year. The wind was mild, the sunset was perfect and they are a gorgeous couple!

Allison has been a friend since high school and she met Mike at her orientation for college in Connecticut. Since Allison can't travel to Maine very often it is always a special treat to be able to spend time with her. This session was one of my favorites mainly because the three of us laughed the entire time! I hope I have the opportunity to photograph them again!

Favorite things about the session:
"You have really nice hair Allison"- Me (in reference to Mike glaring at her hair)
The 1 foot difference in height between Allison and Mike
"He just does his own thing."- Allison
"Can you dance, Mike?" - moments later, "I hope this is what you meant!"- Mike
"The sun made you so orange you look like you belong on J-Shore"- Me
Allison explaining the hail on the ground to Mike
Using not only Allison's parent's yard but also both of the neighbor's
The session started with a fake boxing fight.
Hot coco after to warm up!

Family: Greg & Delilah

When I think of little girls, I always think of Daddy's Girls. Well, that is exactly what Delilah is. She has her Daddy wrapped around not only his little finger but the other nine fingers too. There is an incredible bond between these two and it is very evident in these photos. Greg always has Delilah laughing and her eyes light up every time. The session started a little bit later than we had planned, but wasn't a problem, especially since it is New Year's Day. This session is also my first session of 2012! yay! (Side Note: There are more black and white photos than colored photos in this session and that is because I love to show emotions in black and white)

We went for a little drive to find a great wooded area that would serve as one of the best places I have shot yet! It was beautiful, the trees were even still covered with ice from the recent winter storm. Delilah was more interested in trying to find bunny rabbits in the woods and would even whisper when she thought she saw one. I have to say it was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. Since this wasn't Greg and Delilah's first photo session with me, they were both extremely comfortable in front of the camera. As I captured their special bond all I could do was smile because they were full of so much happiness. When I got home and saw the results of the session, I couldn't have been any happier.

Greg and Delilah, thank you for allowing me to capture the incredible bond between you two and for always reminding me of how sweet this bond is.
