Sarah

Growing up with Sarah being one of my friends and teammates on various athletic teams, it was a true treasure to get to photograph her. Even though we go to the same college we haven't really seen each other much and tend to see each other more when we are "the college kids home for the holidays".

Sarah and I headed out in the blistering cold Northern Maine weather with no direction in mind. If we saw something that could be used for scenery we jumped out of the car, which was warm so we picked locations only if we LOVED them! Sarah battled the wind blowing right into her gorgeous face causing tears to run down her cheeks, and still managed to rock it naturally.  The afternoon was so much fun and definitely worth battling the cold air for.

You can't mistake Sarah's smile for anything! She has one of the brightest grins I have even seen and it makes her even more gorgeous than she already is.  I also have to mention she has a heart of gold, if you know her you would already know this but if you don't know her, this characteristic shines through in her session.

Darryl Ann

I am fortunate enough to have friends who also love the art of photography. Darryl Ann and I have always taken pictures of each other from a young age... somewhere in there we both grew a passion for the art and now it is a huge part of who we are. We enjoy looking at photos together and coming up with sweet places to shoot. Then once we figure out what crazy thing we are going to try we head out and give it a shot. Having a friend to discuss photography and cameras with is such a blessing! Two minds definitely work better than one!

Since we got home on holiday break we have talked about having a photo shoot... well today we finally decided that today would be the day. Who cares that the weather wasn't that great. The rain always makes for beautiful photos. We slipped on ice, climbed wet gross stairs, sunk into mud, got soaking wet from the rain and almost got lung cancer from a random smoker walking by us (well maybe the lung cancer is a bit of exaggeration). Overall, the time spent shooting was memorable and beautiful photos were produced. Darryl Ann has a soul that you can see through her eyes that the camera captured perfectly today. She has a kind heart and is a loyal friend that I am lucky to have.

Maine Hockey vs BU

Saturday night the steins were filled as the University of Maine men's hockey team took on rival Boston University.  Lucky enough for me, I once again was behind the camera to capture these guys in action. No place I'd rather be... well actually I do miss my time in the Maineiak section. There is nothing like losing your voice for a day or anything.

After the first period of play both teams were scoreless and into the second period Anthoine scored Maine's first goal. The crowd roared and cheered for what seemed to be minutes. I once again caught myself doing the classic, watching the play and screaming instead of capturing the goal with the camera. I did snap out of it quickly and get pictures of the guys celebrating afterward.

I can't wait for the holidays to be over and be able to capture these guys doing what they do best. Next game I will be shooting at will be at Fenway Park on January 7th for the Frozen Fenway game. UMaine will take on rival University of New Hampshire.

UMaine dropped one to BU 5-1

Kris and Family

Kris spoke to me about taking her family photos earlier this year and we finally found a weekend that worked best for both of us! We met in downtown Bangor and the weather was perfect! In spite of the craziness of all the Christmas commotion around, we were able to find spots that did not have a lot of distractions! Kris' girls, Hannah and Sophie, were SO much fun to photograph and it was never a dull moment with them! They laid in the grass, threw leaves, climbed statues and fire escapes, AND made plenty of crazy faces! Even Kris climbed the fire escape so we could get some head shots for her. I am sure Kris can agree, I was a little scared of heights once I got up there! I was so thankful that the girls' dad, Brian, was also able to make it. We were able to capture some beautiful shots of him and his girls. He was also very helpful in getting the girls to pose! I felt right at home from the start with this family, when you see the photos you will understand. As I was downloading them after the shoot, the love this family has was obvious and is so BIG that you can feel it!

Favorite Things:
Sophie climbing all over the huge green cannon.
Hannah wanting her picture taken by the HUGE statue.
Climbing the fire escape... we needed Brian with a camera to get the photos of us all climbing down.
Having a "Home Base" for all their stuff, even though some of the stuff wondered.
Kris making a deal to get Tim Horton's if the Hannah and Sophie were good.
The faces the girls gave every time Kris tried to fix their hair.
Brian practically feel in love with a tree in the park.
Brian and the girls wanted their photo taken with the light post.
The pucker brush that Sophie had to stand on... which produced fabulous facial expressions
I was trying to get Sophie to reposition herself while posing with her sister and she did the exact opposite and we all had a great laugh about it!

Greg and Sean

I was so excited when Sean asked me to take his photos with Greg. I met these two guys last year... one of the few things positive that came out of living in a dorm. Greg was my neighbor and we became great friends right off. During this shoot we had a fight with daylight- because we only had about 30 minutes till complete darkness. We managed to go to two different locations and STILL have light. It was a success. Greg always cracks me up, basically because I never know what he is going to say. We had many laughing moments while we did this shoot. There are plenty of bloopers for them to enjoy that's for sure. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more fun couple to photograph that afternoon.

Favorite Quotes:
"I have this weird chin thing... you know?" - Greg
"Greg was mean to me last night, Haley." - Sean
"Remember how crazy BIO 200 moments were studying? Times that by a million is how Greg is right now in his class."  - Sean
"Is my face too serious? I can't really do serious." - Greg Followed by burst of laughter
"Do I really have to sit?" -Greg
"What!? Get in that tree?"- Greg and Sean
"Sean the point of this is for you to look at me!"- Me "Oh, yeah, sorry."- Sean
"Try to act like you like each other okay?" - Me "Yeah, Sean!" - Greg
